In this video, see how to replace the tailgate lock on the Skoda Octavia II: in the plastic trim of the tailgate, there are plastic caps hiding screws. Remove these caps, unscrew the screws, then you can take off the trim, which is pressed in place.

Once removed, there are three Torx screws to take out near the lock, being careful of the small electrical connector linking it to the bodywork. You can find the replacement part on eBay with code 203760923757 for £28.00, with free delivery.

Reconnect the connector and reposition the component, refitting the three Torx screws. Now, reposition the tailgate trim, clicking the clips back in place, and then replace the three screws you removed earlier.

Close the plastic caps and the job is complete.
