To replace the timing belt on the Smart Fortwo model 450, access the lower part of the engine bonnet located at the rear of the vehicle. Once opened, locate the pulley and loosen the central nut to remove the belt by relieving the tension.

Remove the worn timing belt and insert the new one, ensuring to tighten the pulley nut to reapply tension to the belt. Once finished, start the vehicle's engine to ensure the replacement has been carried out correctly.
