To adjust the tension of the Smart 450 belt, first access the tensioner. You need to remove the front bumper and the left front wheel to reach this part.

This allows you to remove the tensioner from its housing and possibly replace it with a new spare part. Once the tensioner is installed, adjust it by tightening or loosening the nut that secures its pivot.

This will allow you to increase or decrease the tension of the timing belt.
