In this brief guide, you will find the main instructions for removing and replacing the timing chain on the Smart Fortwo 450, with a 600 or 700 petrol engine. First, lift the vehicle and remove the oil sump; then detach the engine from the body by unscrewing the fixing bolts. At this point, remove the auxiliary belt and take off the timing cover by unscrewing all the screws; then remove the upper part of the cylinder head and part of its wiring. Follow the procedure for replacing the belt, watching the video until the end!
