Remove and Replace the Alternator Belt on a Smart Fortwo

Watch this video to learn how to remove and replace the alternator belt on a Smart Fortwo. Lift the car on a column lift and remove the wheel, then use a socket spanner to remove the engine cover (if available). Use a spanner to loosen the tensioner bolt and slide the belt off the alternator. Use a socket spanner to unscrew the bolt until it is removed from the tensioner. Fit the new belt with the bolt, tightening everything with the spanner. Finally, fit the securing bolts of the splash guard and refit the wheel with the tyre onto the vehicle.
