How do you open the hood of a Smart ForTwo 453?

In this video, we will see how to open the front hood of a Smart ForTwo 453, produced from 2014 onwards. It is a different procedure from traditional cars, because the hood is very small, and even though it opens with the usual release cable from the inside, it will not open by pressing on the center of the hood. Instead, we will need to position ourselves between the bumper and the windshield, insert our fingers in the space in the center, just below the edge of the hood, and press the safety lever located behind the "Smart" logo, lifting the hood upwards. This car does not have hydraulic support, and not all versions have a manual one, so we may need to hold it up with one hand while working. A common issue on older versions is that the cable may have loosened, so we may need to have two people perform the operation: one pulling the lever and the other pressing the hood from the outside. The hood then closes by lowering it to a height of about 20 cm and then pressing firmly until we hear the "click" of closure.

Removing the Door Panel on Ypsilon

Remove the door panel of the Lancia Ypsilon to access the speaker? Follow this guide to see how to do it. Unscrew all the securing screws located inside the cover panel. Disconnect the securing clips. Finally, pull the panel away with your hands and detach it from the door (disconnect the power wiring and the opening cable). Remove the speaker from inside the door.
