It is also important to buy the original Smart bolts (2 vertical and 1 horizontal) which cost about 5 euros each. We remove the old actuator and mark its position. We apply a little white grease to the new bolts to prevent them from seizing in the future. Then we mount the new actuator aligning it with the previous marking. The actuator is an electric motor that operates the clutch instead of the pedal. If it malfunctions, it can cause shifting problems, sudden braking, error lights, and often prevents the car from moving.
