In this video tutorial you can learn more about the operation of the clutch actuator of the Smart 451. Let's start by saying that the Smart is equipped with a robotic automatic gearbox consisting of a dry clutch and gears. The movement of the gears is therefore not done manually, but is performed by actuators, as well as the control part of the clutch. There are gears inside the actuator (see video). Once the actuator has been disassembled using a screwdriver, we can see that inside there is an electric motor which serves to transfer the movement inside this actuator. This electric motor is commanded in square wave by the control unit. In this scooter there is a kind of spiral that works on the internal gear; this component tends to wear out over time.

How do I unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 3 Series?

In order to unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 3 Series, the Start / Stop button and the lever release button must be pressed at the same time. This procedure will allow the car gearbox to be unlocked for about 15 minutes, so that in the event of an engine failure, the car can still be moved. It may be necessary to repeat the operation more than once for its success. After unlocking the gearbox, it can return to its original state by simply waiting for the aforementioned 15 minutes, or by pushing the release lever forward for a few seconds.
