Clutch Actuator on Smart 451

In this video tutorial, you can gain insight into the operation of the clutch actuator on the Smart 451. First, note that the Smart features a robotised automatic gearbox consisting of a dry clutch and gears. The gear shifts are not done manually but are executed by actuators, as is the control of the clutch. Inside the actuator (see video), there are gears. Once you have removed the actuator using a screwdriver, you will notice that inside there is an electric motor that transfers movement within this actuator. This electric motor is controlled by a square wave from the control unit. Inside this motor, there is a type of spiral that works on the internal gear; this component tends to wear out over time.
