Let's see how to change the engine oil and filter on a Smart Fortwo. Lift the car with a column lift or jack and open the engine compartment located in the boot. Use a suitable socket wrench to unscrew the bolt under the oil sump to allow the oil to drain into a container for future disposal. After all the oil has drained, re-screw the bolt into the oil sump. Use a strap wrench to unscrew the filter; lubricate the new filter and screw it into its place. Finally, refill the oil reservoir with new oil following the manufacturer's recommendations.
