How do you replace the oil and filter on a Smart Fortwo? This guide video shows you how to proceed with the replacement. Lift the car with a column lift and unscrew the oil sump bolt, allowing the oil to drain into a container (tighten the bolt after draining). Use a strap wrench to unscrew the large oil filter, remove it, and fit a new one, ensuring it adheres well around the thread. Open the rear hatch of the car and lift the metal cover; unscrew the oil filler cap and top up the engine with new oil. Close the cover over the engine.
