How to Change Oil on Smart Fortwo

Oil changes should be performed at the mileage specified by the manufacturer; here’s how to change it on a Smart Fortwo. Lift the car on a column lift and locate the oil sump plug. Use a suitable socket wrench to unscrew the plug located under the oil sump, allowing the oil to drain into a container for future disposal. After all the oil has drained, screw the plug back into the oil sump. Use a strap wrench to unscrew the filter, lubricate the new filter, and screw it into place. Remove the cap and top up the oil reservoir with new fluid according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Replace the oil filter.
