Before you begin, sit in the driver's seat of your Smart ForTwo. Start by inserting the tip of a thin but sturdy tool into the gap between the handle cover and the door panel, then pry it off. This will dislodge and slightly pull away the internal handle cover.

Proceed to repeat this step to dislodge the window switch button, then pull it out from its housing.

At this point, disconnect the corresponding electrical plug, and you will have successfully completed the removal.
