To replace the rear brake shoes on the Smart, lift the car with a jack so that the corresponding wheel is off the ground. This will allow you to unscrew the bolts securing the wheel to its housing, gaining access to the drum underneath. By unscrewing the appropriate bolts, you can remove the drum and access the brake shoes: these must be disconnected from the brake by removing the cables. Once the old shoes are removed, insert the new ones, then refit the drum and the corresponding wheel.
