Resetting the service light in a Smart Forfour is quite simple. First, get in the car, insert the key into the ignition slot, and turn it to the first position to power on the instrument cluster without starting the vehicle. At this point, use the buttons on the steering wheel: navigate through the settings menu using the arrow buttons and select the "messages and service" option. Press and hold the OK button until the key symbol starts flashing; release the button and press it again for about 20 seconds. Turn off the instrument cluster and turn it back on to check if the operation was successful.
