This video outlines the procedure to reset the service light in a Smart. First, get in the car and close the doors. Turn the ignition key and select how many miles are left until the next service, as shown in the video. Within 4 seconds, press the button and turn off the ignition. Then, turn the ignition back on, keeping the button pressed for 10 seconds. The mileage will now be reset. You can verify this by turning off the ignition and turning it back on while keeping the button pressed. At this point, it will also show how many miles until the next service is due.
