To replace the rear brake shoes on the Smart Roadster, lift the car with a jack or ramp so that the corresponding wheel is off the ground; once the wheel is lifted, unscrew the bolts securing it to the hub, remove the wheel, and access the components at the rear. After removing the wheel, take off the drum and access the underlying shoes: these must be removed from their housing by unscrewing the fixing bolts and freeing them from the corresponding spring.
