How do you replace the air filter of the Smart Fortwo?

In order to replace the air filter of the Smart Fortwo, you need to open the rear hatch and remove the carpet at the base of the rear compartment: underneath you will find the engine, which in this car is mounted in the rear. Once you locate the engine compartment, on the left side, you will find the air filter box that needs to be opened by loosening the fixing screws: this way you can remove the filter inside, replacing it with a new one. After the replacement, you can check that everything is working correctly.
