Replacing the Air Filter in a Smart 453

To replace the air filter that supplies the engine of the Smart 453, open the rear hatch, and using a Torx 50 key, unscrew the six screws that secure the boot floor and remove it. You will find the filter box on the driver's side; use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the inlet pipe and slide it off. Using a Torx 8 screwdriver, unscrew the two screws that secure the filter housing and remove it. Take out the old filter element, clean the compartment of any dirt, and insert a new filter.

Close the cover and secure it, reinsert the pipe and tighten the clamp, then replace the boot floor, securing it with its screws.
