Replacement of the Car Halfshaft

Model: Subaru Outback BE, BH, MK 2 - Years 1999-2003
Part: Axle shaft

The halfshaft is a component of the drivetrain that transfers energy from the engine to the wheels, allowing the vehicle to function correctly. This guide shows how to change the halfshaft. The first step is to remove the halfshaft that needs replacing by lifting the car off the ground using a jack. Next, remove the wheel corresponding to the halfshaft to be replaced by individually unscrewing the bolts with the appropriate tools and then taking off the tyre. After this, you will find two cross-head screws that need to be removed. To detach the halfshaft from the hub, you will need to disconnect the component known as the 'tripod'.
