The Meaning of the Numbers on the Tyres of the Toyota Rav4

This interesting video explains what the numbers and codes stamped on the tyres of your Toyota Rav-4 mean: starting with the code seen on the side of the tyre: 225/65 R17. 225 is the tread width expressed in millimetres. The number after the slash is the aspect ratio of the tyre, which in this case is 65% of the tread width; R stands for "radial", which is the type of tyre, and 17 is the diameter of the tyre expressed in inches.

Inside a box, there is another number: in this case, 102H, which indicates the maximum weight that the tyre can support (which the YouTuber converts into pounds), while H is the speed index of the tyre, for which there is a government table that can be easily found online.

A subsequent marking clearly shows the meaning of the "102" marking, indicating the value in pounds and kilograms; it also shows the maximum pressure that the tyre can withstand.

The production date is also displayed, represented by the last four digits, indicating the week and year of production. Then we see a number preceded by the word "treadwear". This index indicates the theoretical lifespan of a tyre: the higher the number, the longer the tyre will last: a tyre with a treadwear of 600 will last longer than one with 200. The next code indicates how the tyre performs on wet surfaces: the codes are "A", "B", "C", starting from good, average, to poor.

The third number indicates the tyre's heat dissipation capability, where A is the best rating.
