How does the 1.5 liter Toyota hybrid system on the Yaris Cross work?

In this animation, we see how the Toyota 1.5 hybrid system of the Yaris Cross works, which combines a traditional gasoline engine with an electric one and a battery. The transition from one engine to the other occurs automatically and continuously, depending on driving conditions. The gasoline engine provides the main power and recharges the battery during driving; the electric motor supports the gasoline engine during acceleration, provides the power needed for low speeds, and recovers energy during braking. The battery stores the energy recovered during braking, and provides it to the electric motor when necessary. Thanks to the synergy between the two engines, fuel consumption is significantly lower compared to a traditional gasoline car, and CO2 emissions are also significantly reduced. Furthermore, acceleration is smooth and responsive, thanks to the high torque of the electric motor, and as a result, driving is quiet and comfortable, especially at low speeds. It is also worth noting that external charging is not necessary, as the battery recharges autonomously during driving.
