In this tutorial, see how to replace both the gear knob and gaiter on a Toyota Yaris, a very simple and quick operation. First, grip the knob, using pliers and a cloth if necessary, then unscrew it firmly and separate it from the shaft.

Next, remove the entire centre console, turn it upside down, and detach the gaiter base by unclipping the relevant clips. At this point, position the replacement part, reassemble everything, and start the new knob onto the shaft.

If necessary, secure the new gaiter to the knob using a plastic tie.
