Traction Control (TCR) is a helpful driving aid on surfaces with low traction. For example, when driving on snow, after a stop, you may struggle to start moving again due to slippery pavement causing the drive wheels to spin. The TCR intervenes by adjusting engine power and applying brakes, allowing the wheels to gain enough traction to move forward. However, there are situations where you need to disable this control. To do this on the Toyota Fortuner, press the button located on the console, which shows a car skidding with the word OFF underneath. The deactivation is confirmed by a warning light that illuminates on the dashboard and lasts until the vehicle is turned off or the button is pressed again.
