If you are still using an old model key for your Toyota Fortuner, you can immediately replace it with one that has a remote. Purchase the shell from an official Toyota parts dealer and start.

To make the new key work, you need to insert the transponder from the old key: only then can the new key and the control unit communicate and allow the execution of various commands. Open the shell of the old key and extract the transponder.

Next, move to the new remote: open its shell, insert the piece just extracted from the old key, and close it.
