How to Change the Oil and Diesel Filter on a Toyota Rav 4

Watch this video to learn how to change the engine oil and filter on a Toyota Rav4. Lift your car on a column lift or jack and remove the plastic undertray using a Torx screwdriver. Use a socket wrench with the appropriate socket to unscrew the bolt located under the oil sump, allowing the oil to drain into a container for future disposal. After draining all the oil, re-screw the bolt back into the oil sump. Use a square socket to unscrew the black filter cap, remove the old filter, and insert the new one. Check that the cap has adhered properly to the metal base. Perform the same operation for the diesel filter. Finally, top up the oil reservoir with new fluid following the manufacturer's recommendations.
