To remove the engine from a Toyota RAV4, disconnect all the hoses connected to the intake and exhaust manifolds. You will also need to remove all hoses related to the water pump and oil pump, disconnecting any connectors related to various sensors.

At this point, loosen the bolts securing the engine block to its mounts, and extract it from the engine bay using a hoist; this will allow you to insert the new replacement engine, connecting and securing it properly.
