In this video, some peculiarities of the new car inspections are explained, which are done through a Scantool to be inserted into the EOBD port: this way, the various control units of the vehicle are read, and any stored errors are detected. If the engine light is on, the inspector is required to investigate further. Regarding the EGR Valve, AdBlue, and DPF, components that many have bypassed or tampered with, it is very likely that the control unit will record errors in this case. However, there is still no specific test to verify if these components have been modified. Nevertheless, through exhaust gas checks, inspectors can detect anomalies in the emission control system: ultimately, much depends on the professionalism and competence of the inspector, who may suspect tampering based on the presence of specific error codes, abnormal values of measured parameters, visible modifications to the exhaust system, and abnormal behavior of the vehicle during the road test. If caught, the inspector can refuse the inspection: tampering with emission control systems is a crime punishable by both administrative and criminal penalties.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
