How to Centre the Steering Rack

The first question you might ask is: why should I centre the steering rack? The reason is that centring it prevents the steering from being unbalanced to the left or right when the wheels are straight. You will need an adjustable spanner and a marker: Rotate the shaft in one direction (for example, all the way to the left) until it stops. Using an adjustable spanner will prevent damage to the notches. When you reach the stop point, mark it with a marker on both the body of the rack (the fixed part) and the shaft (the rotating part). Now turn it all the way to the other side and count the full turns (in the video, it's two). Go back half the turns (in this case, go back one), and align the mark on the shaft halfway between the two marks on the body. In this position, the rack is correctly centred.
