To replace the brake shoes on a drum brake, first remove the car wheel. You will need to remove the adjuster pin and loosen the axle nut to extract the wheel hub. Next, remove the tension and compression springs to take out the shoes. You should also replace the return spring of the reverse system. At this point, you can insert the new shoes in the reverse order of disassembly. Once they are in place, refit the wheel hub and secure the axle with the corresponding nut.
