If your Ford vehicle is equipped with automatic Start & Stop technology, know that it is a function designed to help you reduce the amount of fuel used. The function is normally active unless you decide to deactivate it by pressing the function's off button; therefore, it will be active every time you start the vehicle, and every time you come to a complete stop, such as at a red light, the engine will automatically shut off, and a light on the instrument panel will notify you; simply releasing the brake pedal will automatically restart it. The start & stop may not work if the battery is not sufficiently charged, if the engine is in the warming-up phase, or if you are using the heating or air conditioning. Remember that the electric power steering is inactive when the engine is off.
