To unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 3 Series, press and hold the Start/Stop button and the shift lock button simultaneously. This procedure will unlock the car's transmission for about 15 minutes, allowing the vehicle to be moved in case of engine failure.

You may need to repeat the process more than once for it to work properly. After unlocking the transmission, it will return to its original state by simply waiting for the aforementioned 15 minutes or by pushing the shift lock lever forward for a few seconds.
