Timing belt replacement for Volkswagen Golf VII

In this video we can see the bench replacement of the oil belt and water pump of a Volkswagen Golf VII: we will start from its rear by draining the coolants and setting the top dead center of cylinder number one. This engine uses a separate timing belt for the water pump, and it must be replaced every time the timing belt is replaced; the bolts must be loosened in a certain sequence: start from the other and proceed counterclockwise. Now we are able to remove the water pump and thermostat together with the belt. When mounting the gasket, we must pay attention to its mounting tabs; the water pump must undergo a particular tensioning, as we must apply a load of 30 Nm with a 10mm hex key, following the opposite sequence to the disassembly, tightening them to 10Nm, and then loosening them by one turn. In the lower part we have a hexagonal cavity where we must preload 30Nm, which must be maintained until the pump is completely bolted. We must then have someone help us in this phase. Follow the indications of the various bolt tightening sequences of the pump, as illustrated in the video: they are very important.
