Turn on the ignition while holding the button. At this point, the light or the "service" message should flash or change: you can release the button. On some models, after releasing, it may be necessary to briefly press the same button again to confirm the reset. The "reset" message should disappear. This procedure is valid for many Volkswagen models from that era (1999-2005).
