On the Volkswagen Golf IV, there are two fuse boxes: the one in the cabin, located at the end of the dashboard on the driver’s side and hidden behind a plastic cover, and the one in the engine bay, located above or next to the battery and primarily dedicated to power fuses.

The cigarette lighter is usually found in the cabin fuse box, in position 41, with an amperage of 15A; the 12V socket in the boot may correspond to position 35. Other useful fuses: position 14 for interior lights, 42 for the radio, 24 for wipers and washer pump, 25 for the air conditioning fan. The most reliable source remains the label on the back of the fuse box cover, and in case of replacement, use a fuse of the same amperage.
