On Volkswagen Golf Vs, an intermittent fault with the seatbelt warning is common: the chime or light activates and deactivates randomly, even when the seatbelt is properly fastened. The issue lies within the connector of the seatbelt buckle, where the contacts no longer make good contact.

Remove the black plastic clip located at the base of the seatbelt buckle, under the seat or to the side. Once removed, you will find a white component with internal connectors.

Using a small screwdriver, slightly bend the metal contacts inward or sideways: the goal is to ensure the contacts close the circuit correctly when the seatbelt is fastened. This will resolve the fault.
