How to Remove or Replace the Front Headlight on VW Golf MK5

As usual, the first thing to do for mechanical or bodywork maintenance on cars is to immobilise the vehicle on a flat surface or on a ramp. Once done, to remove the front headlight assembly of the Volkswagen Golf, start by removing the grille mounted on the front. To do this, open the bonnet and unclip the clips holding it in place. Begin with the 2 clips on the upper edge (as shown in the video images) that you need to press to pull the grille out, then continue unclipping the other clips around the perimeter of the grille. Now, using the appropriate spanner, unscrew the screws that secure the headlight assembly in position. There are two at the top of the front, located in the areas shown in the video images, and one below the headlight, accessible through the hole occupied by the small grille under the headlight itself. Finally, after disconnecting the electrical supply, you can slide the headlight assembly out of its housing.
