How to Reset the Sunroof on a Volkswagen

Let's see how to reset the sunroof on a Volkswagen vehicle (Golf Mk5/Jetta/Passat B6). This issue occurs after disconnecting the battery, when the sunroof may only partially open, not respond to commands, or not reach the fully open or closed position. The system needs to be reprogrammed separately for the sunroof and the shade. For the sunroof, press and hold the sunroof open button for 10 seconds: it will perform an automatic sequence by fully opening and closing, and finally slightly lifting at the rear. For the shade reset, press and hold the shade close button for 10 seconds: this will also perform a complete automatic sequence. Ensure you press the correct button for the sufficient time; check the dedicated fuses, and if it doesn't work, try again with the engine running.
