Fuel Filter Replacement

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003
Part: Diesel fuel filter

The diesel filter is located at the front left of the engine bay (when viewed from the front), near the coolant reservoir. Using pliers, loosen the hose clamps and slide them off; then remove the retaining clip from the T-fitting to which new O-ring seals will be applied, generally included in the packaging of the new filter. Remove the old filter and insert the new one: it is not recommended to transfer fuel from the old to the new filter as there may be impurities inside; rather, fill it with clean fuel or an additive. Finally, reconnect the hoses and secure them with the respective clamps.
