Repairing the Right Mirror on a Volkswagen Passat

Model: Volkswagen Passat B8, 3G, MK 8 - Years 2014-2023

This tutorial shows you an ingenious method to repair a broken external mirror: you will glue another glass over it, hiding the old and damaged one. The mirror is the same as that fitted on the Volkswagen Golf and Polo, so this tutorial applies to all these car models. This is a very simple operation: remove the damaged glass from the housing by hand (if you struggle, use a flat screwdriver). Disconnect the connector so you can place it on a workbench and work more effectively. Remove the adhesive paper from the back of the new glass and immediately glue it onto the damaged mirror.

While driving, if you notice the tyre pressure warning light coming on, first check the actual inflation pressure of the tyres and, if necessary, restore the pressures recommended by the manufacturer.
