How to Replace the Windscreen Wiper Motor on a VW Golf V

In this video, discover how to replace the windscreen wiper motor on a Golf V. Open the bonnet and mark the end points of the wiper blades with a marker or tape. Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the cover cap of the fastening nut for both wiper arms, spray some lubricant (e.g., WD40) on the nuts, and with a 13 mm socket, loosen them. Now, apply pressure several times on the wiper arm joint to detach it from the wiper mechanism, or alternatively, use a small three-jaw puller. Once both are detached, proceed to remove the seal and detach the finishing plastic, taking care with the junction between the plastic and the windscreen (it is advisable to spray lubricant in the junction before performing this process). Using a 10 mm socket, unscrew the bolts securing the scuttle panel and remove it. Disconnect the electrical connector and proceed to dismantle the wiper tandem along with the motor, using a Torx key. Pull everything out from its housing and place it on your work surface, using a screwdriver to lever off the main arm from the ball joint. Retrieve the connecting rod fixed to the old motor by unscrewing the nut from its shaft. Unscrew the three fastening bolts of the electric motor with a Torx key, detach it from the tandem, and fit the new motor. Before attaching the rod with the ball joint, connect the motor to the electrical connector and operate the wiper once, waiting for the motor to stop, ensuring that you will reattach the rod with the motor at the zero point. Now you are ready to reassemble everything. Important: Remove leaves and dirt from the area where the motor mechanism will be stored as there are rainwater drains; clean the junction of the windscreen to facilitate the coupling with the finishing plastic and avoid damaging the windscreen.
