How to Replace a Car Door Lock

The door lock of a car can become dysfunctional quite easily due to frequent use. Replacing it is not an impossible task if you have basic skills. Start by removing the door panel using a cross-head screwdriver. Once the panel is detached from the door, lift the plastic covers off the screws of the door handles and remove them with a simple screwdriver, which will free the internal door handle. Unscrew the bolts that secure the rod and disconnect the cables and electrical connectors from the door. Once the door is completely detached, use pliers to free the door lock and remove it.
