How to change a door lock on a Volkswagen Golf V

To change the lock on a Volkswagen Golf V, start by removing the internal handle, take off the panel using a plastic lever along the edge to detach the clips, disconnect the electrical connectors, and set the panel aside. From the inside of the door, locate the locking cable that connects the handle to the lock; disconnect the cable, unscrew the torx screws that secure the external handle to the door, and remove the external handle. From the inside, remove the opening mechanism, disconnect further cables, and take the mechanism out of the door. Separate the actual lock, carefully extract the lock; you can find the new one on Amazon with code B08R5FBG3D for £30.99, with free delivery for Prime customers. Insert the new lock, secure it, reinsert the mechanism, reconnect the cables, remount the external handle, reconnect the handle locking cable, and remount the internal panel, ensuring to reconnect the electrical connectors, and you’re done.
