Removing the Lock from a Volkswagen Golf 5

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008
Part: Door lock

This guide shows how to remove the internal lock located in the rear door of a VW Golf. Insert a metal key into the slot on the door (side panel), then use a plastic lever to remove the cover of the handle located to the right. Extract the lock from the door, then slide the handle off the car's panel. Remove all perimeter screws around the door; take off the metal panel (as shown in the video). Disassemble the central locking mechanism from the door; disconnect the connectors. Insert the new lock into the door and cover it.
