How to Remove the Instrument Cluster from a Volkswagen Golf V

Remove the instrument cluster from the dashboard of the vehicle; it is quite simple. Pull the steering column down to its lowest position. This will allow you to loosen the lower dash cover enough to insert a screwdriver and unscrew the screws holding it in place. Retrieve the screws with a magnetic extension. Now the speedometer and instruments can be pulled out without too much difficulty; you just need to disconnect the connectors. You will have access to all the printed electronics to carry out the necessary repairs, checking all the contacts. Finally, refit the instruments following the reverse instructions given for disassembly.
