Replacing the Speed Cable

The speed cable is connected to the drive located at the output of the gearbox by a flexible cable that runs through the engine bay and the bulkhead. When the drive rotates, it turns the cable at the inserted end. The following guide explains how to check and, if necessary, replace the speed cable. First, check that the cable is not twisted, crushed, or bent within the engine bay and ensure it does not come into contact with hot parts as it could melt. Once the relevant parts are disassembled, you can disconnect the cable and proceed to insert the new one, possibly using a screwdriver for assistance.

How to Replace the External Wing Mirror on a Ford C MAX
