How to Remove the Gear Knob on VW T5

Model: Volkswagen Transporter T5, MK 5 - Years 2003-2014

Want to replace the gear knob on a Volkswagen Transporter? Here’s how to remove it. First, use a screwdriver to remove the plastic cover on the knob, then unscrew the knob screw with a socket or screwdriver. Remove the leather gaiter from the edge of the centre tunnel using a plastic lever (if it needs replacing). For reassembly, grasp the gaiter and slide it onto the rod on the centre tunnel, then slide on the new knob and screw it in with the socket. Finally, attach the plastic cover back onto the gear knob.
