Removing the Starter Motor

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003
Part: Starter motor

To remove the starter motor, first disconnect the cables and remove the battery. Then, also remove the battery tray. Unscrew the nut and disconnect the negative cable from the battery to the starter solenoid. Now unclip and disconnect the other cable. To work more comfortably, create some space by moving the surrounding cables. Loosen and partially unscrew the upper mounting nut. For easier access, you can lift the car, always adhering to safety regulations. At the bottom, first unscrew the power steering pipe support. Now you can unscrew the starter motor mounting nut. At this point, simply remove the upper nut and extract the starter motor. Car model: Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI
Required tools: flathead screwdriver, socket wrench with extensions 10/13/16 mm.
