How to Remove the Starter Motor from a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

Before you begin, open the bonnet of your Volkswagen Golf. Start by disconnecting the two battery terminals, then remove the battery itself. Next, remove the base that supports the battery by unscrewing the fixing bolts. This will give you access to the starter motor. Proceed to disconnect the connectors attached to it by unscrewing the respective fixing bolts. Once done, unscrew and remove the bolts that secure the starter motor, then take out the starter motor itself. After completing this step, you can extract the starter motor, and the disassembly will be finished.
