How to Change the Oil and Reset the Light on a Volkswagen Atlas

Changing the oil on your Volkswagen Atlas is easy, especially if you can safely lift it. First, remove the protective cover that shields the engine from rocks and mud, then you will easily identify the oil pan. Remove the bolt that closes it with an 18 mm wrench, placing a suitable container underneath to collect the used oil, which you will dispose of properly at an authorized collection center. In the same container, also drain the oil from the filter using a 6 mm wrench. Then, using a 36 mm wrench, remove the filter (the 5-liter oil kit and filter costs about $130 on major e-commerce sites). When changing the filter, remember to remove the O-ring. Now, if all the oil has drained, you can close the oil reservoir (it is recommended to use a new bolt while you're at it) and refill the oil from the top, that is, from the hood. After you have added 5 quarts of oil, reset the light: press the button in the center of the dashboard while turning the ignition key (with the doors closed). It will ask if you want to reset the oil interval. Confirm. The job is finished.
