Here are the steps to safely and independently replace the battery in your Volkswagen Golf Mk6 (2008-2012). First, ensure the car is turned off after parking it on a flat surface. Then, lift the front bonnet and locate the battery on the right side of the engine compartment. Remove the protective cover and disconnect the two terminals using an appropriate spanner. Finally, unscrew the bolts holding the battery in place and replace it with the new one. Reattach the previously removed bolts and reconnect both terminals.
